Intro

After  T-Mobile merged with Sprint, it had the challenge of integrating different systems and millions of new customers into its existing ecosystem. But it also created an opportunity for the wireless giant to reinvent their supply chain technology and deliver a transformative customer experience across both brands.

Spinnaker SCA, a Publicis Sapient company, partnered with T-Mobile to digitize their monolithic supply chain, enabling omnichannel capabilities and supporting the build-out of America's largest 5G network. The result? A flexible, agile platform that embodies T-Mobile's ”un-carrier” philosophy while supporting over 19,000 stores and 100 million subscribers nationwide.

The Problem

T-Mobile's legacy supply chain infrastructure couldn't support their ambitious growth strategy or deliver on their customer-centric brand promise. The Sprint merger intensified this challenge, presenting complex integration demands while maintaining business continuity. With supply chain operations managing $13B annually across 19,000+ stores, the company needed a digital transformation that could integrate disparate systems, enable new omnichannel capabilities, and support the rapid deployment of 5G infrastructure—all while enhancing the customer experience that differentiated their brand.

The Solution

Spinnaker SCA, a Publicis Sapient company, designed and implemented a comprehensive digital supply chain ecosystem that fundamentally changed how T-Mobile manages inventory, fulfills orders, and serves customers. The solution included deploying a highly automated, multichannel distribution center for all US mobile device and accessory fulfillment, modernizing their 5G network supply chain, and re-architecting their reverse supply chain operations.

Key innovations included consolidating all device and accessory inventory to a centralized distribution center, creating a closed-loop supply chain with end-to-end return tracking to eliminate fraud, and enabling seamless omnichannel experiences (buy online/pick up in-store, ship from store, return in store). The architecture specifically addressed the challenge of integrating Sprint and T-Mobile inventory systems to create a unified customer experience regardless of which brand's store a customer visited.

The Impact

The transformed supply chain platform positioned T-Mobile for unprecedented growth following their $37 billion merger with Sprint. With their new digital capabilities, T-Mobile rapidly adapted to changing consumer behaviors, accelerating omnichannel services like contactless delivery, curbside pickup, and same-day delivery. The platform's flexibility allowed T-Mobile to give customers true choice in how they receive products while maintaining operational efficiency at scale.

"

The team has helped T-Mobile solve some of our most challenging problems by leveraging their deep industry experience. It's been transformative in changing our relationship with our business partners.
